Your cash gifts and physical gifts will display side by side on your Joy registry, in the order that you set them up.
When your guests click on a honeymoon fund or cash fund, a window will pop up. Here your guests are allowed to choose the gift amount they would like to give. We ask them for their name and email so that you will know who to thank.
When your guest clicks on “Add to Cart & Reserve” they’ll see “My Cart” on the right panel of the page. Depending on the payment method they’ve selected they’ll see a button that says “Send with Cash/Check” or “Send with Venmo/CashApp/Paypal.”
After clicking on the button to send their contribution, they’ll see your mailing address if they selected to pay with Cash/Check. If you linked Venmo, your guest will need to open their Venmo app and use your username to send their gift. If you’ve linked PayPal or CashApp, they’ll need to click the button to be directed to PayPal or CashApp to complete the contribution. Here they also have the option to “Cancel Reservation.”
After clicking the button to send gift, they’ll see reminder to revisit your site after completing the contribution to mark it as purchased:
As long as your guests complete the transaction the money will be instantly deposited into your Venmo, PayPal, or CashApp account. If you don’t see the money in your account, it’s most likely your guest(s) didn’t complete the transaction.
In order to send a cash gift through PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App, your guests will need an account on that service. This is separate from a Joy account.
If your guest has linked their cash sharing app with their bank account, there will be 0 fees.
Your guests can also pay via credit card on these three services if they have an account. However, all three services charge a fee for sending money using a credit card. PayPal charges a 2.9% fee, while both Venmo and Cash App charge a 3% fee.
Please Note: Joy is not affiliated with PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App. We do not make money from any cash gifts and we do not have internal specifics on their policies. For further details on international accounts, currency exchange fees and general information, please click here for Paypal, here for Venmo, and here for Cash App.
