Getting a Custom Domain

When you first created your Joy wedding, we provided you with a website URL (http://withjoy.com/<youreventhandle>, like www.withjoy.com/amyplusdave). That said, we totally get it if you want to use your own custom domain. Currently, Joy can connect to a custom domain through forwarding only, meaning when a guest goes to your custom domain (jacklovesjill.com), that guest will be redirected to your Joy website and withjoy.com/jacklovesjill will display as the website URL. We, unfortunately, do not support forwarding with masking, which means your custom domain will show as the website URL.

Set Up a Custom Domain that Forwards to Joy

To set up a personalized domain for your Joy website, follow these steps:

Open up Settings.

Click on “Add a custom domain (optional)” under your Joy URL.

This will open up a new tab where you can browse or search for a domain you like. Although domains that end in .com are most common, consider fun alternatives like .wedding, .us, and .love.

After that, follow the rest of your on-screen instructions. If you’re looking for how to connect your newly bought domain to your Joy site, go here. (If you purchased your domain elsewhere, we shared some forwarding tips here.)

Note: You can add links to any of your Joy eCards including Invitations, Save the Dates, Custom Cards, and Change the Dates. As an example, if you want to add your custom domain URL (or another URL) to your Invitation eCard, simply navigate to the Edit Details section on the Invitations page.

To ensure your link is clickable and directs guests to where you intend (in this case, your wedding website), add a ‘www’ before the URL.

Do: www.romeoandjuliet.com

Don’t: romeoandjuliet.com
