Lights, camera, action! Prepare for a blockbuster feature that lets you roll out the red carpet for your engagement or story video right on your wedding website. It’s like having your own mini film festival – just without the popcorn crumbs!
Adding a video
We support videos hosted on YouTube and Vimeo! Why? They’re the ones who handle the behind-the-scenes work of hosting and streaming your video seamlessly across devices, from the biggest screen to the smallest phone. Upload your video to YouTube here and to Vimeo here.
- Head over to ‘Edit Pages’ on your admin dashboard, then click ‘Video.’
- Add your video’s web address and catch a sneak peek of how it will look on the website.
Video Web Address
To give your video the spotlight, Joy simply needs the web address from YouTube or Vimeo. Open your video on either platform, grab the web address from your browser, and voila! A YouTube video address might read “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXXXXXX,” while a Vimeo one could read “https://vimeo.com/XXXXXX.”
Once you’ve pasted the link and clicked Test, you’ll get a front-row view of how your video will steal the show on your website. Add an optional video caption beneath the preview. When everything looks perfect, take a bow by hitting Save at the top.
For YouTube, your videos can be either Public or Unlisted. Unlisted videos are like the VIP section – they can only be accessed through a direct link, and do not show up in search results. Vimeo videos should be set to Public, or if you’re a Vimeo Plus/Pro/Business/Premium account holder, you can go embed your video on Joy without it being public. Just choose “Hide From Vimeo” when embedding. For a deep dive into security choices for YouTube videos, check here, and for Vimeo videos, explore this page.
How it’s displayed on your website
How your video takes the stage depends on your website template.
Your video takes center stage on the homepage. If you’ve chosen a page photo, it turns into a video preview with a play button overlay. Give it a click, and voilà! The full-screen video player pops up, showcasing your video alongside an optional text video caption.
Your video gets a dedicated spot on your website, right after your Welcome section. Give the preview a click, and your video blooms into a full-screen player, presenting your video alongside an optional text video caption. The section title you assigned on YouTube or Vimeo will be the displayed title.
This is your video’s backstage pass – a short caption that shines beneath the full-screen spotlight. It’s also a member of the entourage in the single-page layout’s video section.
iOS and Android
Our video extravaganza is ready to rock on both iOS and Android apps, ensuring everyone can be part of the show on any device.
