You can now display videos such as your engagement or story video right on your website for guests to view. It’s a beautiful and immersive way to share the start of your journey with friends and family.
Uploading your video
Joy supports videos hosted on Youtube or Vimeo. Why Youtube or Vimeo? These video services offer free video hosting and handle streaming your video to many devices, from a desktop browser to mobile devices. You can upload a video to YouTube here and upload a video to Vimeo here.
To link your video to your website, navigate to the Video section from your admin dashboard. There you can enter your video web address and see a preview of how the video will appear on your website.
Video Web Address
To embed a video on your website, Joy simply needs the link to your video on Youtube or Vimeo. Open your video on Youtube or Vimeo and copy the web address from your internet browser address bar. A Youtube video web address will look something like “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXXXXXX” and a Vimeo video web address will look something like “https://vimeo.com/XXXXXX“
When you enter your video web address and click Test, you will see a preview of how the video will appear on your website. Below the preview, you can add an optional video caption. Once everything looks how you want it, click Save at the top of the page.
Joy supports displaying videos hosted on Youtube that are Public or Unlisted. Unlisted videos are videos that you can upload to Youtube and can only be seen by people with a direct link to that video. They can’t be found through a search. It’s a great way to make your videos more private. We also support videos on Vimeo that are set to be viewed by anyone or if you have a Vimeo Plus/Pro/Business/Premium account, you can choose to embed your video on your Joy site without having it publicly visible on Vimeo. Learn more about the security options for Youtube videos here and security options for Vimeo videos here.
How do videos display on my website?
Videos you add to your website are displayed differently depending on the website template you’re using.
When using the multi-page layout, your video will be displayed on the homepage of your website. If you have a cover photo selected, the cover photo will be used as the preview of the video with a play as an overlay. Clicking on the preview will open up your video in a full-screen video player that displays both your video and an optional text video caption.
In the single-page layout, your video gets its own section on your website after your Welcome section. Clicking on the preview will open up your video in a full-screen video player that displays both your video and an optional text video caption. The section title displayed will be the title you gave the video on YouTube or Vimeo.
Short caption message that displays below your video when it’s viewed in full-screen mode. The caption also displays under the video as part of the video section on the single-page layout.
iOS and Android Apps
The video feature is now also active on the iOS and Android mobile apps! We hope you enjoy this feature across all your devices.
