Do you want to personally text or email your guests links to their own personal e-cards? Whether you just want to add that personal touch or want to make sure your e-card lands in your friend’s personal inbox, you can do that with Joy.
The invitation e-card works the same way on the guest’s end – they get a direct and personal link to their invitation from you, open it up, and see your gorgeous wedding invite which lets them open up your website and/or allows them to RSVP directly.
Sending the personalized e-card link
To send a personalized e-card link, you will need to:
- Open your guest list page from your admin dashboard. From there, you can then click on the guest’s profile icon for the guest that you want to send the e-card link to, and then open their tracking tab as seen below:

- Under the “Tracking” tab on your guest’s profile, you will see the personalized e-card link that you can copy to your clipboard by clicking on the “copy” icon, or by selecting the link manually. You can send the link to your guests via text message, personal email or any other electronic communication method of your choice like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger etc etc.

- Once guests receive the link, they will be brought directly to their own personalized e-card link that is associated with their name on your guest list.
***REMEMBER – These links are personalized for each guest. Please be sure you do NOT share the same link with more than 1 guest!
Why send a personalized e-card link?
There are several reasons you may want to send a personalized e-card link! For example, if you send 100 guest invitations, and then maybe three of your guests say they didn’t get the email, (maybe they missed it in their inbox or it was deleted accidentally), you can then send those three guests their own personalized e-card link to ensure their e-card invite gets to them directly and they don’t miss it.
Also, say you craft your e-card invite and send it out to 100 guests. Then you make some edits to the e-card for maybe a second round of invites, or maybe you add some additional details for certain guests, but you want to send the original e-card to certain guests that may have missed it the first time. Without having to go back and re-edit the e-card back to its original form, you can just send the personalized e-card link and the guests will receive the original e-card you sent.
Additionally, you can always keep checking the “last email status” column on your guest list to see who hasn’t opened the e-card yet. For those that haven’t opened it yet, you can text or email them their personal e-card link with a message like, “Hey! I sent you an e-card invitation through email, but in case it got lost in your inbox, here is a direct link to your own e-card!”

A few important things to note with the e-card links…
- Again, don’t share the e-card link with anyone other than the guest you want to send it to, or someone else will be able to RSVP as the guest you selected!
- The e-card links are only available after you have already sent an e-card once. If you haven’t sent an e-card to a guest, then the link won’t be available yet.
- If you want to test the link, open it in a private browsing window to avoid being logged out.
- The personalized e-card links are only available for e-cards that were sent after August 9th, 2018.

If I want to send traditional invitations through the mail, can I still use With Joy for my wedding website for event details and photo uploading?
Hi Susan!
Great question and I apologize for the delay!
Yes you can certainly still use Joy for all your event details and photo uploading! All you need to do is add your Joy event handle (URL) and event password (if you have one enabled) on your printed invitations. That way, guests can go to your site to check out all the details regardless of whether you are sending paper invites or ecards. Many of our couples do this actually! 🙂
You can add something to your printed invite like “Check out all of our event details and upload photos from the wedding on our website! Simply visit http://www.withjoy.com/eventhandle and enter password XYZ.”
I hope that helps and makes sense! If you have any more questions, please feel free to email us at support@withjoy.com.
Thanks!
Wish we could send this as a text first. Or that there was the option to send this as a text first.
Hi Cristina!
Thanks for reaching out! Did you want to send the ecard out via a text message first BEFORE having to send an email you mean? If so, you can always send your wedding URL/event handle and password (if you have one) to your guests as a text message if you would like, but there is no way to actually send an ecard link (as seen in this article) without sending an email first. Sorry about that.
That may be something we provide in the future though, thanks for asking! Feel free to write us at support@withjoy.com as well if you have any additional questions about this or anything else. Thanks!
I second what Cristina is saying. I wish there was a way to send people a personalized link to their own e-card, and it didn’t matter how you send it (email, text, facebook, etc). There’s a lot of friends who I’m only connected via phone number and/or facebook. I’d love to skip asking for their email and just send them an e-card directly.
Thanks for the feedback on this Cara, and we TOTALLY understand what you mean! We have this filed with our product and design team — to allow you to send a personalized link to an invite/e-card in other ways than through email, (i.e. text, facebook, whatsapp etc etc). I am glad you brought it up again, so I can make another note that you were asking about this feature. I am sorry that I don’t have an estimate of when we may offer this functionality. In the meantime, please feel free to send us an email to support@withjoy.com if you have any other questions/needs!
Hi Tara,
Like the earlier participants in this thread suggested, it would be most useful and frictionless if we could send out E-cards and RSVPs to guests without an email address. Trying to collate 100s of email IDs before sending out invites is a painful task. Sending out invites through SMS, Whatsapp and other social media links would make this a game-changer for your clients!
Thanks for your comment and feedback about this Bhaargav!
I completely understand where you are coming from. While we don’t have this feature “built in” to our current product yet, you are definitely still able to send the link to your Joy site and app to your guests via social media, text message, whatsapp etc etc. All you need to do is send them your Joy wedding site url and event password (if you have one) in the text message. It can certainly work that way, then guests just need to click on the link in the message and rsvp on their devices from there.
Of course you can’t send ecards out via text/social media yet, but sending the links and password is a workaround for now that still works well.
Separately though, I have made another note that you were asking about this. We’ll be sure to talk about this in our next product and design meeting, and we hope to offer something like this in the future!
If you need anything else, please feel free to email us at support@withjoy.com. 🙂 Thank you!
Hi, am I able to upload my own E card to With Joy rather using the automated ones?
Hi Lina!
Great question and thanks for asking! Unfortunately you can’t upload your own ecard design to Joy at this time, I am so sorry about that. But one thing to note is that you can always choose a different ecard theme on your ecard than what you have used as your website theme, just in case you are looking for some variation and flexibility.
We might provide this ability in the future so I will make a note to our product and design team that you were asking about this. If we can help you with anything else in the meantime, please do let us know! You can always email us at support@withjoy.com too. Thanks!
Is it possible to send link to hotel for early RSVP in the online save the date feature?
Hi KC!
Thanks for reaching out about this! Unfortunately you cannot send links in the online save the date or invitation ecards at this time (or in any of our emails that you send out through Joy), I am so sorry about that. However, the best way to share the link to the hotel for early RSVPs would be to include that info on your travel page! There is an option on the travel page to include hotel information specifically, and a place to include the link to the hotel. I hope that helps. If you need any additional help with this, (or anything else) please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at support@withjoy.com or by clicking the chat icon on the bottom right side of the page on the Joy website.
Thanks!
I agree with the comments above – we have several guests who we only know by WhatsApp or Facebook and we don’t have an email address for, so it would be great to be able to generate and e-card or invite link without an email address.
I’m considering putting my email address in as their email address in order to generate a link, but I suspect that might lead to weirdness…
M.
Thanks Michael!
I know exactly what you mean, and understand completely! So keep in mind, while we don’t have this feature “built in” to our current product yet, you are definitely still able to send the link to your Joy site and app to your guests via social media, text message, whatsapp etc etc.
Also, I have seen some other couples think the same thing as you about sending an ecard to your own email address for them so that you can generate a link, and it seems to be ok but you have to make sure you don’t get confused and get your links crossed or anything, in case you do that for various guests. It can be a bit tricky/confusing, but it can work ok that way too as long as you are careful about the links. (For example, the link you generate for an ecard should only be used for that one guest so you’ll want to make sure you don’t accidentally share those links with the wrong people or anything).
With that said, I have made a note that you were asking about this to our product team. Hopefully we can provide something more built-in for this in the future!
