1. What’s a custom domain?
A custom domain is like your very own signature for your website. When you join Joy, you score a free “withjoy” URL, like withjoy.com/courtney-and-jesse. A custom domain would look something like www.courtneyandjesse.com.
2. What can I do with a custom domain on my website?
Once you connect your custom domain to your Joy site, you can share it with your pals. Use it on invites, texts, save the dates – you name it. Feel like flaunting it on social media? Go for it!
3. Can I forward or mask my domain?
Joy’s only supports domain forwarding. If your Joy URL is withjoy.com/jackandjill and your custom domain is jackandjill.com, guests will type your custom domain into their browser and they’ll land on your Joy site with your Joy URL showing in the search bar.
Joy does not currently offer masking of website addresses, which hides your Joy URL and displays the custom domain in the URL bar.
4. What’s the cost for a personal domain?
A custom domain can cost around $19.99 per year. The exact price may sway based on your chosen domain.
5. How long will I have my domain?
Pick your groove – 1, 2, 3, 5, or even 10 years. By default, your domain will auto-renew at the end of your registration period, so that you don’t lose your domain to someone else who may want to purchase it. If you turn this off, your domain will expire at the end of your registration period.
6. Will my domain ever expire?
It depends on your auto-renewal setting. By default, it’s on to keep your domain safe from others who might want it. This way, you don’t lose your domain to someone else who may want to purchase it. If you switch it off, your domain says goodbye at the end of its registration.
7. What after my domain expires?
If it’s time to say goodbye, your wedding site returns to its free address. You won’t lose any information and your wedding website will remain intact. You’ll find your trusty Joy URL on the “Settings” page.
8. Do I keep my Joy URL?
YES, you do! Your Joy URL isn’t going anywhere. Even with a custom domain, both paths lead to your fantastic wedding site.
