We know how important privacy is to our couples, so we’re continually rolling out new features that make it easier for you to keep your wedding website sealed tight! Therefore, we have a feature called ‘strict name matching’ that only allows those guests on your guest list to RSVP.
For example, Chris Smith will only match if he enters his name as Chris Smith. Christopher Smith is not an exact match, and if he tries to RSVP that way, he’ll have the option to check his spelling and try again or send you an email and ask for verification. (The strict name match feature is not case sensitive, however, so if he enters chris instead of Chris it will match.)
Two additional things to note here: First, if you decide to use the Strict Name Match feature, you have to provide both first and last names in your guest list. Second, if there are two people on your guest list with the same first and last name, the tiebreaker will be an email address. So if you have two John Smiths, you will need to ensure that you also include their email addresses on your guest list.
This provides an extra layer of security on your RSVP. Here’s how to enable strict name matching for your wedding RSVPs.
First, you will want to head over to your Settings page from your admin dashboard: Once you open up ‘Settings,’ click on the ‘Security & Privacy’ tab on the top of the page. Next, head down to the ‘RSVP Access’ section and toggle on “Only allow guests on my guest list to RSVP.” Of course, if you want to disable the feature, turn the toggle off (gray).
What happens if my guests aren’t found on the guest list?
Don’t worry! If your guests enter the wrong spelling of the name, (for instance, they typed John instead of Johnny) Joy will notify them and give them the option of messaging you. You will receive an email saying that this person attempted to RSVP with the wrong name. You have the option of updating their name to match what they wrote and you can have them try again, or you can reply to the email and let them know what name they need to RSVP with. For example:
Once they make the adjustment, they will be able to RSVP without any problem!
