When we created Joy, we wanted to make everything as simple as possible for our users, including automatically centering page photos. But after a few cases of accidental decapitation, we realized that this was causing formatting issues, particularly with vertical pictures. Now you can easily recenter page photos on your wedding website yourself. It should be noted that this only an option for the Single-Page Layout because this layout crops photos. The Multi-Page Layout does not crop those photos.
First, navigate to your wedding website page (not the admin). You‘ll see the option to Edit Photo in the upper-right corner.

You’ll see two options: ‘Select a Focus Point’ and ‘Change Photo.’

From here, you can adjust what portion of the picture is centered without editing the original file. So if you want the sunset to take center stage, or maybe cut out that creepy ex-roommate who photobombed an otherwise perfect photo, go for it! The quality of the picture will not be affected.
If you aren’t seeing the option to Edit Photo, it means you are either using a private browser or you aren’t signed in under the credentials you used to create the website. Check our article about Login Information for more information.
