Crop Your Photos

When uploading photos to Joy, we try our best to fit as much of the photo as we can by scaling down the tallest or widest part of the image and centering it inside of a particular display frame. Because photos come in a variety of dimensions (Portrait, Square or Landscape), when the photo is cropped, the most interesting point of the photo might not be near the center of the frame. This is particular noticeable when trying to create photos for your wedding party.

What You Want

Cropping Photos

If you want a different part of a photo to be centered in a frame you will need to provide Joy with a photo cropped with that part of the photo in the center.

Cropping Photos on Mac OS X

  1. Make a copy of the files you want to crop and place them into another directory on your computer.
  2. Open the Preview App on Mac OS X. It’s usually located in your Applications Folder.
  3. File > Open and open the file you want to crop.
  4. Drag your mouse cursor on the photo to draw a rectangle around the area you want to crop. Ensure the focal point of the image you want is in the center of this new crop.
  5. Go to Tools > Crop to crop the image. Or use the shortcut CMD+K.
  6. Go to File > Save to save your image.
